Call for Artists: Fundraiser Exhibition Benefitting the New Amsterdam School
We are thrilled to invite you to show your artwork on the walls of our community gallery in support of the New Amsterdam School. The school integrates the arts in all academic disciplines and inspires a life-long love of learning in the children. Waldorf education is based on the work of Rudolph Steiner, an artist and philosopher, who understood that creativity, imagination, and keen observation are the key to a child’s healthy development.
This exhibition, which will support the school in a myriad of ways, is a means of showcasing and celebrating the many outstanding artists who are part of our community, including parents, faculty, friends and supporters within the East Village and beyond. Everyone is welcome to submit works of art!
Qualifications & Requirements
The theme of this exhibition will explore:
“Caring for our Children, our Community, and our World.”
While addressing broad challenges due to the pandemic, structural racism, and climate change, we are reminded we must also care for ourselves, our families, and our communities. The possibilities for visually demonstrating how we care for others are endless: artists may submit political artwork about the environment, or visually honor the perspectives of others to inspire positive change. We might visually show that we care for others through bold expression or by reflecting quiet, thoughtful gestures, words and deeds. We welcome your paintings, photography, and works on paper. All work accepted will be two-dimensional.
