British Council in partnership with Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridgeshire, and Digital Arts Studios, Belfast is pleased to announce the second round of Net//Work Online Digital Arts Residencies. Together they will select mid-career visual artists who work creatively with digital technologies to participate in online residencies for four weeks.
Net//Work offers time for reflection, research, practice, skills exchange, and professional networking opportunities focused on digital artistic practices and technologies.
Each online 4-week residency is open to mid-career visual artists based in South Africa, Nigeria, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Indonesia, Pakistan, or Malaysia who work creatively with digital technologies (work that is made or presented using digital technology).
The residencies will consist of online mentoring with Wysing and DAS staff, group conversations, problem solving surgeries, guest talks and workshops with external curators and artists and 1:1 tuition. Following the residency, artists will have the opportunity to participate in an online exhibition hosted by each residency partner.
We are looking for a diverse range of mid-career visual artists. Net//Work aims to be a fully accessible programme, and we encourage disabled and/or D/deaf visual artists to apply. Access provision and costs will be met in addition to the artist fee, subsistence, and production costs.
What do we mean by mid-career?
We recognise that artists’ careers progress in different ways. ‘Mid-career’ could mean reaching one or more of the following milestones: participation in at least one solo exhibition selected by a recognised curator; participation in at least 6 group exhibitions; recognition through the publication or exhibition of their work at galleries and museums, nationally or internationally; acquisition of an artwork by government, local authority, or museum/gallery nationally or internationally.
