About the Lumen Prize

The Lumen Prize for Art and Technology  celebrates the very best art created with technology through a global competition, exhibitions and events worldwide run by Lumen Art Projects. Now in our tenth year, our annual juried competition draws entries from artists globally and has given away more than US$80,000 in prize money. Lumen Art Projects, a not-for-profit based in the UK, is dedicated to providing opportunities to our community of artists who are longlisted, shortlisted or won awards.

Want to enter and older artwork?

There is no limit on the age of a submitted work.

Who can enter? 

Artists from anywhere in the world may enter. If you are submitting a collaborative project, you must list your collaborators or partners. The party submitting an entry on behalf of a collective/studio or individual must conform the 2021 Terms and Conditions as stated in points 1.1 and 3.1.

Submission Fees

  • Standard Entry Fee

    $38 for 2 submissions


Gold Award: US$4000 The Gold Award goes to the artist whose work is judged to be exceptional across all categories.

Moving Image Award: US$1000 For excellence in time-based artwork, including animation, CGI, generative or video art; narrative or non-narrative works.

Still Image Award: US$1000 For excellence in art using digital processes in its creation, including photo-manipulation, 3D renders, or drawings created on any device.

3D/Interactive Award: US$1000 For excellence in engaging with audiences through sound, touch or movement, including games, apps, installations, or sculpture

A.I. Futures Award: US$1000 For excellence in art that explores future relationships between humans in all areas of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics or Biotech. (Mind Future Award)

Global South Award: US$1000 For excellence in art created with technology by an artist or collective from Africa, Latin America or the developing economies of Asia and the Middle East.

Nordic Award: US$1000 For excellence in art created with technology by an artist or collective from Nordic Countries. Sponsored by Sørlandets Kunstmuseum/KUNSTSILO.

BCS Immersive Environment Award: US$1000 For excellence artworks that create an immersive experience, including performance, XR, virtual worlds, or multi-screen projection. Sponsored by The B.C.S Chartered Institute for I.T.
