BASICS – 14th International Design Contest Trieste Contemporanea
Set up in 1995 by the art critic Gillo Dorfles, the Trieste Contemporanea International Design Contest is advertised every two years by the Trieste Contemporanea Committee, and it is open to designers from the 17 Central Eastern European Countries adhering to the CEI and from the Baltic Countries, Austria, Kosovo, Germany, and Turkey. Several thousand designers have captured the opportunity to experience their creativity in the international context offered by the competition.
The competition deadline of BASICS is extended until 11.59 pm (Italian time) on the 27th of February 2022. The entry is free.
The awards and the registration form are available on the website www.triestecontemporanea.it
An international jury will select the best projects to be exhibited in the planned final exhibition, rewarding the works that best deal with the 2021 theme that requires the design of a new functional, simple, and essential object, iconic of the process of change underway.
The 2021 edition of the contest aims to reflect on individual contribution we can make to sustainable development. Basic issues of concern are how to effectively change ourselves and increase our responsibility to others and to the planet.
Contestants are asked to conceive an original and innovative item of contemporary design considering sustainable development objectives, while reflecting on new meanings and purposes, which also objects, and tools take when addressing sustainable goals or facing contingencies (e.g., as it occurs during an unprecedented outbreak).
The contest is promoted under the auspices of the CEI (Central European Initiative) and by the Trieste Contemporanea Committee.
The rules, the provided prizes, the registration form, the faq and the previous editions’ archive are available on the website www.triestecontemporanea.it
